The Lone Star State {Personal}

Many people are moving to Texas. I am one of those people. I have recently relocated to Dallas, Texas from Southern California and the change has been good. I would say overall, there are more pros than cons. The move couldn’t have gone smoother and the weather is actually bearable; despite the heat and humidity that I was warned about. The only drawback has been building my photography clientele. Establishing a new client base means putting myself out there and socializing. To be frank, meeting new people makes me anxious. I know, this sounds odd coming from a photographer since, we’re all supposed to be overly outgoing and sociable, right?  Well, I am…with close friends and family.  Meeting new people can be intimidating and quite stressful. After searching through some online content, I found a blog post that describes my personality pretty well. If you want to understand me a little more or think you can relate to my current situation, read this article. 18 Struggles of Having an Outgoing Personality But Actually Being Shy and Introverted.

I’m not writing this blog post to profess to you that I have introversion, but more so to let you know that it’s okay to be afraid. Moving to a new location can be scary. Starting a new job can feel like a frightening situation. Meeting new people can be a challenge. However, putting yourself out there and just showing up is the first step to creating a network of friends, business partners or clientele.  No matter the situation you’re in, give it your all if you have a passion for it. I’m going to keep going no matter how sweaty my palms may be!
