I had the privilege of traveling to California recently to photograph Jimmy and Heather in Newport Beach, CA. What a beautiful day we had! These two were an absolute joy to photograph, and the location they chose was perfect. Each moment spent with them, I could tell that their love for one another was genuine and it melted my heart. I am beyond excited for them and look forward to shooting their wedding this Fall. Congratulations you two!
It was a gorgeous spring day when Mark and Christie got married. They said their vows in front of their friends and family at Franciscan Gardens in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Not only was the venue and decor to die for, but the bride and groom looked absolutely stunning, as well. After their first look at the Mission, they tied the knot and spent the night laughing and socializing with their guests. It was a wonderful wedding and I was honored to be a part of it. Congrats again, you two!
Nathan and Jennifer said “I Do” with a beautiful ceremony at Serra Plaza in San Juan Capistrano, CA. They were surrounded by their close friends and family and it could not have been a more beautiful wedding. Nathan and Jennifer are such a wonderful couple and so full of fun and laughter that it made every moment spent with them on their special day a total blast! They truly are a meant for one another. Congratulations to the happy couple!
I was contacted by Susan when she was weeks away from delivering her daughter. Shortly after sweet Miss Alison came into this world, I shot right over and documented her cuteness! She was just a doll to photograph and I was beyond excited to meet the newest addition to the Tran family. Congratulations on your adorable bundle of joy!
When I met the Floyd’s, they were the absolute sweetest family. Soon after our first interaction, we set up a photo session. As we began shooting, I could tell just how much love and admiration they had for one another. They were so gentle and caring for each other and it made me smile. We made our way around Breckenridge Park in Richardson, Texas, and the weather was beyond chilly…Eek! The girls were ohh so cute but, their tiny red noses told us just how cold it was. Although, it didn’t take long to get utterly perfect photos for this adorable family, we cut it shorter than normal because of the colder weather. I had such a great time watching them run around the park together and capture their beautiful memories.
A couple of weeks ago, I flew to Southern California to meet up with Rodrigo and Joselyn for their engagement shoot. They chose the Orange Circle in Orange, CA., which is one of my favorite places to walk around and explore. The weather was warm, the sun was close to setting and the weekend crowds were dying off so, it was perfect for a photo session. Prior to meeting up, they had informed me that they would be dressed to the nines, so, I was prepared for them to look great. When I spotted them approaching from across the street, my jaw dropped to the floor and I couldn’t believe how classy they looked. Wowza! We began shooting and they were such naturals and I felt as though they were experienced models. Not only did their beauty shine through, but I could also feel the love and admiration they had for each another. These two are meant for one another and I could not be more honored to be photographing their wedding this coming winter.
Many people are moving to Texas. I am one of those people. I have recently relocated to Dallas Texas from California and the change has been good. I would say overall, there are more pros than cons. The move couldn’t have gone smoother and the weather is actually bearable; despite the heat and humidity that I was warned about. The only drawback has been building my photography clientele. Establishing a new client base means putting myself out there and socializing. To be frank, meeting new people makes me anxious. I know, this sounds odd coming from a photographer since, we’re all supposed to be overly outgoing and sociable, right? Well, I am…with close friends and family. Meeting new people can be intimidating and quite stressful. After searching through some online content, I found a blog post that describes my personality pretty well. If you want to understand me a little more or think you can relate to my current situation, read this article. 18 Struggles of Having an Outgoing Personality But Actually Being Shy and Introverted.
I’m not writing this blog post to profess to you that I have introversion, but more so to let you know that it’s okay to be afraid. Moving to a new location can be scary. Starting a new job can feel like a frightening situation. Meeting new people can be a challenge. However, putting yourself out there and just showing up is the first step to creating a network of friends, business partners or, in my case, clientele.
No matter the situation you’re in, give it your all if you have a passion for it. If you are employed at a job in which you want to move up in, keep going and don’t stop until you get there. If you struggle socially, join more Meetup groups (have an extra drink), keep smiling and don’t let discouragement get the best of you. Keep moving forward and pursue your goals. For me, I’m going to keep going no matter how sweaty my palms may be.
